13th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities
The 13th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) was held in Budapest on 28 - 29 April 2011. The event was hosted by the Hungarian Parliamentary Ombudsman for the Protection of Personal Data and Freedom of Information. This year's meeting was devoted to the role and competences of national data protection authorities.
The meeting was attended by Wojciech Wiewiórowski, PhD, Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data, who delivered a speech on the tasks of the Inspector General after the entry into force of the amendment of the Polish Act on the Protection of Personal Data and the work on future changes to the data protection legislation in Poland.
The meeting was also attended for the first time by Mr Jacob Kohnstamm, Chairman of the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party, who in his speech addressed, among others, issues concerning the role of data protection authorities from Central and Eastern European countries in the work of the Group.
During the meeting, data protection authorities from Serbia and Ukraine, whose representatives attended the event for the first time, were admitted as members of the Group. It was also decided to organise the next meeting in 2012 in Ukraine.
